Day 33: Imago Dei In You And Me

 Read Jeremiah 1:4-5

The word of the Lord came to me saying, before I formed you in the womb I approved (knew) of you, and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrated you and I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Did you know that you and I were thought of even before you were anything living in your mother's womb? According to this scripture, God approved and knew of you and I long before we were even detectable by an extremely high functioning ultrasound machine. You and I have such inherent value in God. But sometimes we forget quickly that we are made in His image (Genesis 1:26-27) and deeply precious to Him. Even further, as followers of Christ, how much more should we honor the image of God and value He has set in others around us.  It is my sincere hope that as you read this scripture, that God reveals a glimpse of His infinite love for you, the inherent value you hold, and allow that to empower you as you interact with the body of Christ and those becoming part of the family.

Questions to consider:
In what ways do you see the image of God reflected in you? How encouraging and impactful is this in your daily journey with Him? Relatedly, in what ways does Scripture’s interpretation of our value influence the way you treat others?

Prayer:
I thank You Lord for thinking of me, for approving of me, and for loving me even before I took my first breath. Continue Lord to speak to me, inspire me, and influence me. Allow my identity to become even more cemented in You and Your truth in my life. Allow Your truths to work into me and then through me.
