Day 5: The Gospel-Life
Acts 2:22-24, 30
“Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death…David was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.”
Where did Jesus come from? Yes, from heaven and also yes, from his mother Mary. But when did you last hear that Jesus descended from King David? Indeed, Jesus was a teacher, healer, miracle-worker, and one who set the oppressed free. But what ties all of these together is that Jesus came as King. When the King speaks, people listen. When the King gives the order, the army springs to action. When the King legislates, we know what he demands.
Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another” (John 13:34). What does this look like? “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” How did Jesus love? “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). What difference does it make? “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).
Thought To Consider:
Take a moment to listen for how God is calling you to show love to someone at some time today.
Prayer:
Lord, help my walk with you to be “accredited” by convincing proofs that I am fully yours today. Let my words reflect yours; may my thoughts be your thoughts. Show through my life that you are my King.
